SVMS Band Performs at Music in the Parks

On Saturday, May 9, the SVMS Band traveled to Gurnee, IL to perform at the Music in the Parks festival. The combined 6th through 8th grade group performed two challenging pieces that they spent a majority of the semester rehearsing with Mr. Gorecki. They earned an "Excellent" rating from the judges and were presented with a trophy at the awards ceremony. Band students then got to spend the rest of the day exploring Six Flags Great America and the many roller coasters, shops, arcades, and food in the park as a reward for their hard work this year. The students did an outstanding job representing our school and community! Special thanks to our administration and board for allowing the trip and the parent chaperones that helped keep students safe and supervised.
