Meeting Minutes

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the August meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Jonathan Field, SVHS Principal Kyline Burge, SVMS Principal Jonathan Downing, and SVP Principal Bethany Wellbaum.

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Downing led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors

Stephanie Guerrero welcomed the visitors.  Visitors present were: Gretchen Cromwell.

Consent Agenda

Josh Hilbert moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

IASB Update

President Guerrero presented an IASB Update to the Board.

Building Principals presented back-to-school updates to the Board.

Dr. Field discussed the following items with the Board:

School Calendar

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to amend the Sangamon Valley CUSD#9 school calendar for the 2026-2027 school year as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

General Fence

Jessica Browning moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to purchase fencing materials from General Fence at cost for an amount not to exceed $7,357. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. Abstain: Stephanie Guerrero.  Motion carried.

IESA Golf

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve Vaida Berry as an individual golfer to compete as a representative of SVMS with the IESA for the 2026-2027 school year as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Facility Use

Jessica Browning moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to approve a facility use agreement with Wahoos Softball Club for use of the Illiopolis campus during FY27 as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. Abstain: Josh Hilbert.  Motion carried.

Closed Session

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Campbell seconded the motion to enter closed session for the reasons stated on the agenda at 6:16 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:32 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Jeff Stahl moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the closed minutes as read in closed section. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Dakota Floyd as HS asst Girls Basketball Coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Jeff Stahl moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Stephanie Netterville as an at-will benefitted bus driver effective August 4, 2026. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to employ Dakota Floyd as HS Head Girls Basketball Coach effective immediately.  Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to employ Kyli Burge as High School Prom advisor for the 2026-2027 school year effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Jessica Browning moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to employ Danielle Shin as an at-will nonbenefitted special education bus monitor effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for September 16, 2026, at 6:05 p.m., following the budget hearing at 6:00 p.m.  

Adjournment

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 6:35 p.m.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.
