High School Choir
John Gorecki, director
In choir at SVHS, we provide students with the opportunity to improve how they sing, expose them to different cultures, provide a creative outlet, and encourage them to actively listen.
Concert Choir is the core group of our program. All high school students are welcome to sign up for this class during course selection and will receive a grade (based on participation and performances). Concert Choir is both a performance ensemble and a class where we learn vocal fundamentals and music literacy.
Sangamon Valley Voices is an extracurricular choral group. This group allows more advanced students to participate in choir on a condensed basis, meeting before school on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Membership in Voices is limited to students with experience in Concert Choir, and participation requires an audition.
