About Mr. Britton
Hi there! My name is Brian Britton and I am happily married to my wife Abbey. We have two children, Brody and Brylee Jo. Abbey works part-time in the education department at DMH. Brody is our inquisitive 6 year-old who loves anything outdoors, but especially working with his tractors, cranes, and dump trucks. Brylee Jo is the free spirit of the family. She is 3, and let's just say I am worried about when she turns 13.
I was raised near Elwin and went to school at Macon which turned into Meridian my sophomore year. From there I went to RCC and transferred to Eastern. Shortly after that I accepted the position of 5th grade teacher and became a part of the Sangamon Valley family in 2002. Besides teaching math and U.S. history to 11 year-old children, I have spent time coaching middle school boys' basketball and high-school baseball. I have thoroughly enjoyed this school district and have developed deep relationships with many stakeholders, community members and staff alike. In 2009 I started to pursue an administrative degree at Eastern and in 2015, became the principal of SVWE. My favorite part of the job is the opportunity to see the bigger picture. I feel like I get to work closely with a larger variety of folks, but continue to be connected to the kids. Serving this district is a honor and something that I don't take lightly.
Outside of school, I have an assortment of things I enjoy. I love putting on my old jeans and hat and spending time working on my father-in-law's farm, mowing yards, and other odd jobs. It is especially fun if I get to take my son with me and teach him how to work. He loves it! On the other side of that, I love to read non-fiction books. I get captivated by the stories of Washington, Jefferson, and Adams and how those guys helped us enter and get through the revolution or Lincoln and his leadership when our country was broken. I stay involved at our church and volunteer in the children's ministry and coach the men's softball team in the summer. Sports are important to me. I love watching Illini basketball with my dad during the winter and Cardinals baseball, especially in October. (Molina is an absolute master at his craft.)
I'll wrap up by saying the people at Sangamon Valley are a part of my 2nd family. I enjoy this place and happy to work here. I take pride in Storm Country and feel blessed to get the opportunity to serve you.
