SVHS Senior Mikayla Jackson has been selected to serve on the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council which met last week for the first time in Springfield.
Each year a group of students is chosen from around the state to be student advisers to the board. This group of students has the opportunity to see the State Board’s policymakers in action and work with them to provide student perspectives and concerns on the state’s education policies. Students come together a few times throughout the year and work on a research project that is presented to the Board in March.
Sophomore Vanessa Templeton, Senior Mikayla Jackson, and Senior Paige Coss have been selected by the Community Foundation of Macon County to serve as part "Young Leaders in Action" which met for the first time last week. Mikayla was elected to serve as "Chair" which is basically the president of the council. Congratulations to all of these students! SVHS is very proud!
