District-Wide Ceremony Honors Veterans

On Friday, November 11 all four Sangamon Valley schools came together to honor our community's Veterans in a district-wide assembly at the West campus.  The assembly, hosted by middle school social science teacher Andrew Martin, included:

Members of American Legion #508 retire the colors

  • The Presentation and Retiring of Colors by American Legion #508
  • Pledge and Flag Folding by Boy Scout Troop #91
  • Music from Elementary students at both campuses
  • Remarks from Sid Palmer
  • A slide show accompanied by music from our Middle and High School Choirs
  • High School speakers Jon Shull and Beth Stacey
  • A rendition of "God Bless the USA" by school board member Glenda Weldy
  • Taps performed by High School student Ella Rutherford

Throughout the ceremony, it was evident how much the SV communities of Illiopolis, Niantic and Harristown value the sacrifice and service of our military Veterans.  Thank you to all who made this year's program a success!
